If you didn't know Hammond Lake lies in both Bloomfield Township and West Bloomfield.  Lake homes on Hammond Lake in Bloomfield are on city water and sewer.  The issue is that the homes fall in the Pontiac School district which is not the highest ranked school system in the area.  If you want another lake check out the top lakes in West Bloomfield.  Here is the most complete list of lakes in West Bloomfield.  It includes photos, lake depths, sizes, and information on the homes.  It has taken me hundreds of hours to gather this information.

If you would like a home  on Adams Lake in Bloomfield you need to know it is just a small lake.  Not much different than Harris Lake condos in West Bloomfield.  They are smaller private non all sports lakes.  No room for a big speed boat at all. I don't even have depths for them as many residents do not know and there is no depth listed anywhere.  It is the same way with Walnut Lake houses in Bloomfield.   Just like the other two lakes Walnut Lake is just a small lake.  There are two Walnut Lakes in Oakland County.

  • Why do you want to buy a lake home?   So many clients remark later that they wish they had done it sooner.  It is a path to  building stronger family relation ships and nurturing friendships. They always say “you never know how many friends you have until you have a lake house.”  I always say you become more social when you buy a lake home.
  • Drive Time.  In Oakland County many of the homes have longer drive times because of the way the roads curve around the lakes.  Many of them are just two lane roads that become congested at rush hour.  Are you going to use the home as a weekend getaway or year round home?  Will you rent it?  Could you run out to the lake after work? This may help you map your area where you would consider purchasing.
  • Maintenance. Lake living is all about being on the lake.  Not working on the house, or taking care of the yard on the weekends.  That is for subdivision dwellers.   Look into lawn maintenance and cleaning services. Having things done at the lake will free up your time to have more time on the lake.  Have the dock put in or taken out.  Have the boat winterized.  If you can afford it have it done so you can spend more time with family and friends.
