Scotch Lake West Bloomfield – Lake homes Scotch Lake West Bloomfield Michigan

Are you looking for a peaceful, quiet, private lake in West Bloomfield?  A lake where you are not going to hear loud noisy boats.  A lake that it is going to be peaceful at any time of the day.  Then West Bloomfield’s Scotch Lake is a lake you should check out.   It’s not a huge lake in fact it is only about 9 acres in size.  Not big enough to do water sports on but big enough to swim, kayak, paddle boat, row, or paddle board on.  It’s a lake to relax morning or afternoon.  Have coffee watching the ducks or the relax on your deck at the end of a long day at work.  Let all your problems melt away!

There are five little lakes just south of Cooley Lake, east of Union Lake Road, and east of Union Lake.  Mercedes Lake, Quicksand Lake, Marion Lake, Cross Lake, and of course Scotch Lake.  Scotch, Cross, and Marion are the three biggest lakes and really are just large ponds.  Or tiny lakes.  They are large enough to swim and paddle on but not big enough to do any active power sports on.  They are fed by a small stream and also spring fed too.

The roads around the lake are paved though there is on road that is gravel.  Most of the homes are on well and a few are on municipal water.  The homes are mostly on septic though there are some on sewers.  The school district for the homes on Scotch Lake is Waterford.

The basic characteristics of the homes for sale on Scotch Lake in West Bloomfield that sold are:

  • 1 to 4 bathrooms
  • 2 to 4 bedrooms
  • some have basements, others are on slab or crawl spaces
  • The age range of the homes is 1930 to 1998
  • size of the homes range from 750 square feet to over 2600 square feet
  • the styles of homes are ranch, colonials, and split levels

There are still a few old cottages on the lake from the 1930’s.

There are about 21 homes on Scotch Lake.  There are quite a few empty lots but I do not know if they are buildable or not.  There are so many more restrictions with today’s building departments.  Setbacks from the road, from the lake, and side lot lines.  Then add in footprint regulations, line of sight regulations, and septic regulations today’s lake home property buyers have to be careful to know whether the lot is buildable or not.

A beautiful fall day on the lake – this home is not for sale but just an example of the homes on the lake
