Endicott Lake is one of the small prestigious lakes in Bloomfield Hills. The lake homes are all on paved roads. They are all on city water and they are sewers or they have sewers at the street. The children on the lake go to the Birmingham School District. Most of the lakefront homes on Endicott Lake were built during the years 1955 -1979.
Does sunset view affect the price of a home? Not really. Lake frontage affects the price more. Of course the larger the lot and the wider the frontage the more the property is worth. Sometimes a small old house will be bought, just to be torn down because the value is in the land. Most of the lake homes on Endicott Lake in Bloomfield Hills have these characteristics:
- 2 -5 car garages
- 3- 8 bathrooms
- 2-5 bedrooms
- most have basements some walkout
- square footage ranges from 3100 square feet to over 7200 square feet
These were homes were built from the 1955 to 1979. Though there is at least one one built in 1995. For that age of homes these lakefront homes were big for that time period…….. over 3000 square feet with many of them over 5000 square feet.
Endicott Lake is a private non all sports lake. The lake is really a pond. It is only 9 acres in size. That means the lake is good for paddling around on and fishing. I would call these homes on the lake more estate homes. They are large, beautiful, custom built homes on larger lots. The lots range from an acre in size to over 3 acres. It is a scenic lake with mature trees.
Bloomfield Hills is just a small city that is only about five square miles in size. It is completely surrounded by Bloomfield Township. Much of the city is residential and known for being a prestigious city. It has many large estate style homes and luxurious mansions in beautiful settings. Many of the homes are on larger lots and surrounded by mature tall trees. Only about eight percent of the city is water. There are only a few named lakes in the area. They are Vhay Lake, Lake Placid, Endicott Lake, Kern Lake, Shorewood Lake (a small part of it lies in the city and Kingswood Lake that lies in the Cranbrook School grounds. The lake homes are high-end and exclusive. They are similar in that they are all private, non all sports lakes that are pond like lakes or very little lakes. So they do not offer boating or activities like tubing, or skiing. However there are many other ways to indulge in various types of waterfront living such as swimming, fishing, and wildlife watching. Living on any size lake makes life a little better. Something about being near water gives the home owners happiness.

Lake Linden in Bloomfield Mi is one of the small lakes in the township. There is not much to say about it other than it is more of a pond than a lake. If you are looking for a little bigger lake then maybe a Home on Hammond Lake in West Bloomfield may be for you. It is located just south of Orchard Lake Road and west of Telegraph Lake. It is very nice lake.
West Bloomfield lakes are a great place to live. So many to chose from. All sports or not should be the first question you should asl yourself? That will determine many things. If you want a small lake then an Adams Lake home in Bloomfield is a possibility. Or maybe a home on Harris Lake in West Bloomfield is a second choice.
- Why do you want to buy a lake home? So many clients remark later that they wish they had done it sooner. It is a path to building stronger family relation ships and nurturing friendships. They always say “you never know how many friends you have until you have a lake house.” I always say you become more social when you buy a lake home.
- Time. In Oakland County many of the homes have longer drive times because of the way the roads curve around the lakes. Many of them are just two lane roads that become congested at rush hour. Are you going to use the home as a weekend getaway or year round home? Will you rent it? Could you run out to the lake after work? This may help you map your area where you would consider purchasing.
- Maintenance. Lake living is all about being on the lake. Not working on the house, or taking care of the yard on the weekends. That is for subdivision dwellers. Look into lawn maintenance and cleaning services. Having things done at the lake will free up your time to have more time on the lake. Have the dock put in or taken out. Have the boat winterized. If you can afford it have it done so you can spend more time with family and friends.
