I would call Heron Lake in W Bloomfield more of a pond. It’s not very large. Only a few acres in size. It’s great for the local birds and wildlife and maybe to put a kayak or paddle boat on. It is a private lake and a non all sports lake. There are only about 20 homes on the lake. The roads around the lake are paved. Brookfield and Moon Lake are nearby.

One of the big factors for lakefront homes on Heron Lake is that it is Bloomfield Hills school district. The homes were built between 1972 and 1988. They range in size from 3600 square feet to over 4200 square feet. Most of them have some brick on the exterior. All of them have basements and many of them are walkout.
If you are buying a lake house in Oakland County you should know what negatively affects the price. Of course the normal stuff like high tension wires, house on a main road, or close to a business. But when buying a lake home parking sometimes comes into play, but the two main issues are type of lake bottom and is there vegetation in the lake. Sandy bottom homes sell quicker and fetch more money as do lake homes that do not have lily pads or lake grasses in the in front of the house. However there is no way to put a specific dollar amount on these items. It just slows the sale and homes that are sandy bottom sometimes get a little more money.

The home styles are ranches, colonials, and contemporary homes. The Heron Lake homes are on sewer and municipal water. They have 3-4 bathrooms, mainly 4 bedrooms, and 2-4 car garages. I would call it a subdivision lake are there are many similar homes around the lake and there are not cottages on any of the nearby lakes. They are all year round homes.
One winter when our real estate market was slower I poured through the old MLS listings to gather the waterfront home data. There may have been some homes that have been torn down that is included in this data. Other homes may have been built and others lake homes that have not sold in the last 20 years so I was not able to be 100% accurate because of this missing information. This is just to give you a insight into what the lake houses are like.
