Lake Placid is just a tiny little lake that is both private and non all sports. It's not much more than a pond really. There are only 6 to 7 homes on the lake. The roads around the lake are private and the school system is Bloomfield Hills. The homes are on city water and sewer. The homes sit on lots from .86 of an acre all the way up to 5.58 acres. A tributary/stream of the Rouge River flows through the lake.
I do not have information on one of the lake houses, but here is the information on the other lakefront homes on Lake Placid in Bloomfield MI
* The homes were built between 1918 and 2001. (1918, 1929, 1937, 1951, 1959, 1964)
* 2 to 11 bathrooms
* 4 to 7 bedrooms
* 2 to 4 car garages
* 3008 square feet to 10,550 square feet ( 3008, 4220, 5466, 6082, 7769, 10,550)
* All of the lake homes have basements.
All of the information above was gathered from sold listings on the MLS over the last 20 years. Some homes on the lake may not have been sold during this period so this home information may be off because one of the homes that has not sold may be bigger, small, older, or have different features. Some of the smaller lakefront homes may have been torn down and do not exist anymore. Also a new house may have been built on the lake that does not show up. This house information is just to give you a general idea of the houses on the lake.
Bloomfield Hills is just a small city that is only about five square miles in size. It is completely surrounded by Bloomfield Township. Much of the city is residential and known for being a prestigious city. It has many large estate style homes and luxurious mansions in beautiful settings. Many of the homes are on larger lots and surrounded by mature tall trees. Only about eight percent of the city is water. There are only a few named lakes in the area. They are Vhay Lake, Lake Placid, Endicott Lake, Kern Lake, Shorewood Lake (a small part of it lies in the city and Kingswood Lake that lies in the Cranbrook School grounds. The lake homes are high-end and exclusive. They are similar in that they are all private, non all sports lakes that are pond like lakes or very little lakes. So they do not offer boating or activities like tubing, or skiing. However there are many other ways to indulge in various types of waterfront living such as swimming, fishing, and wildlife watching. Living on any size lake makes life a little better. Something about being near water gives the home owners happiness.
There are so many beautiful Oakland County lake homes whether it is a lake house in Bloomfield Hills or a Orchard Lake home there are so many styles, sizes, and ages of homes to chose from. West Bend in Bloomfield is also called Shorewood Lake. For some reason a few people call the lake West Bend over the years, but it is better know as Shorewood Lake. The lake lies in both West Bloomfield and Bloomfield. It's not that big of a lake but it lies on the line of the two communities. It is an "H" shaped lake.
Are you looking for a condo in a golf community? I might just have the lake and golf community for you. Condos on Heathers lake in Bloomfield gives you the best of both worlds. You could have a balcony over looking the lake after a day on the golf course. The fountains in this pond like private lake makes the views even better and keeps the lake from getting scummy. There is no swimming allowed and I didn't see any kayaks or paddle boats out, so I think the lake is just for looking at.
