There are four lakes that were probably formed by glaciers many years ago. Wing Lake in Bloomfield Township, Turtle Lake, Hammond Lake, and Island Lake are the deepest lakes. Many of the ponds I have no depth for. For example I don't know how deep Vhay Lake in Bloomfield Hills is. So I don't even know if they are good for swimming in. They may be mucky or may be too shallow to swim in. If you are looking at a house on a small lake or pond then you need to look for a swim platform or ask the neighbors. I always believe you can learn more about a lake house or a lake by asking one of the neighbors.
Like I said I have spent hours and hours doing research so I know what the local lakes are like to make your lake home search easier. If you need a really good real estate agent that won't shuffle you off to some assistant give me a call. My cell phone is (248) 310-6239

One of the best things about buying a lake house in Bloomfield or West Bloomfield is that you "should" get a good return on your money. When buying a lake home it usually is a good investment if you buy right and not over spend or over build. Lake home prices usually drop less during a correction or recession. They seem to hold their value better. One of the reasons is that they are just no building more lakes around metro Detroit. The number of lakefront properties is not going to increase. So for all those home buyers that do not want to drive hours up north or want to be close to work a SE Michigan lake home is their best option. Demand for metro Detroit lake homes will always be strong. They do not turn over as often as other homes. It usually is a good investment not including that your quality of life will go up.
The following four lakes are private, non all sports lakes that are smaller in size. Most of them are just big ponds, or small little lakes. Just depends on what you call them. Over the years somebody called them a lake.
If you are looking for a bigger lake, or maybe a lake on a chain of lakes then here is another choice for you. Lower Long Lake is in the middle of two lakes. Upper Long Lake is a private all sports lake and on the other side is Forest Lake which is a private non all sports lakes. Combined you have hundreds of acres of water to boat, fish, swim, or kayak on. Lake houses on Lower Long Lake homes in Bloomfield MI are going to be "above average" homes. What I mean by that is some of them will be estate homes and others will be selling at a higher price per square foot than other communities. It is a prestigious lake in a prestigious community.
