There are many different lakes in West Bloomfield Michigan.  There are all sports lakes, non motorized lakes, and even some small ponds that they call lakes.  One of the biggest non all sports lake is in the township.  Green Lake is a private non all sports lake that is about a 100 acres in size.  It is a lake that has many beautiful custom built homes.  There are still some smaller cottages and homes on the lake but it is another lake in transition.   There are many lake home buyers that would love to build a home on Green Lake if they could find the right lot or lake home to tear down.   Some of the waterfront homes sit on lots over an acre in size.  So you have options whether you want to buy a home on an all sports lake or a non all sports lake in W Bloomfield.

West Bloomfield Michigan has a lot of lakes, more than many other communities in Wayne and Oakland County.  Approximately 12% of the township is water.    Some people refer to West Bloomfield as the “lake township of Oakland County”.  West Bloomfield has 24 lakes that cover about 1858.7 acres. You have a choice of many different West Bloomfield lake houses, luxury lake estates, and cottages.  You will find fewer lake cottages in the township.  So many of them have been torn down to make way for newer custom built homes.  The small lake cottages that are left are not going to be inexpensive.  You most likely are not going to find a $200,000 lake cottage in West Bloomfield.  Because of the demand of lake cottages and lake homes in West Bloomfield the prices per square foot is going to be higher than some other communities.  This is partly fueled by the good schools, and the desirability of living in W. Bloomfield.
